Subsea Infrastructure Security Lead - Freelance ~50%

This senior role is responsible for monitoring, analyzing, and strategically positioning the company in the emerging domain of subsea infrastructure protection. The role tracks geopolitical, regulatory, technological, and market developments related to subsea risks and protection, maps the evolving ecosystem of stakeholders and competitors, and translates these insights into clear strategic recommendations for the company. This role also ensures visibility of the value proposition in this field.

Tasks

Monitor geopolitical, regulatory, technological, and market developments relevant to subsea infrastructure protection.
Map and analyze the ecosystem of stakeholders, including authorities, consortia, research institutes, and potential new market entrants.
Track funding programs, initiatives, and strategic trends that could impact the company’s positioning and report internally.
Initiate project proposals with external partners (public authorities, research institutions, consortia, industrial partners) in the subsea infrastructure protection domain.
Prepare actionable insights, strategic analyses, and recommendations for the portfolio lead and the CEO.
Facilitate knowledge sharing internally and externally to support informed decision-making and strategic positioning.
Scope & Expectations

This is a half-time role with an expected time commitment of ~50% on a freelance basis.
Masters English, and Dutch or French, in a professional context. German, Italian or other languagues are an added value.
Represent the company at multiple regional levels: European such as EDA initiatives, national such as DEFRA calls, Belgian Navy initiatives and initiatives by other European Member States.
Liaise with recognized players in the sector and foster collaborations.
Support the company’s understanding and strategic positioning in subsea infrastructure protection.
Work closely with and report to the portfolio lead and CEO to align internal resources and initiatives in this domain.
Influence the company’s approach to emerging risks and opportunities.

We're looking for a candidate with

• At least 10 years of professional experience of which 5 years with critical infrastructure protection, the defense sector or related domains as a must.
• Strong strategic thinking and analytical skills; able to synthesize complex geopolitical, regulatory, technological, and market information.
• Partnership management experience, including leading initiatives with external stakeholders such as public authorities, research institutes, or industrial consortia.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder/partner management skills.
• Comfortable operating in an exploratory, high-uncertainty environment; able to structure work, prioritize, and drive relations to partnerships and projects.
• Proactive, self-motivated, and able to influence without direct authority.
